Have you gone cruising before? And what is your opinion about it? If you ask me: seniors, boring, elite and expensive! I will immediately throw overboard those prejudices during my first cruise. This cruise is not just a cruise, no, it is the famous Nomad Cruise; a (at least) once in a lifetime adventure on a cruise ship. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean in two weeks, along with hundreds of like-minded souls. A surprising, unique and great program, day in and day out, from early in the morning to late in the evening. Workshops, presentations, talent shows, karaoke, disco, salsa, basketball games, acro-yoga, you name it! On the whole, an absolute must-attend event! Nomad Cruise 2018 VI: estoy presente.
What is the Nomad Cruise?
Nomad Cruise is the world’s first floating networking event where a few hundred digital nomads, entrepreneurs and remote workers meet. Sharing skills and knowledge, collaborating and not to forget: having great fun! Providing all comfort and luxury, you will participate in a complete educational and ludic program consisting of presentations, workshops and meet-ups. The subjects are super diverse. Think about: ‘How to build the largest Youtube Channel on Digital Nomadism’, ‘How to travel the world as a digital nomad’, ‘Balancing life as a desk jockey’, ‘How to growth hack thousands of customers through Twitter and Instagram’ and ‘The power of remarketing’. Many interesting subjects, if you ask me. My main personal interest has got everything to do with online marketing strategies.
The Nomad Cruise, a dream comes true after 2 years…
I joined Nomad Cruise V. The first Nomad Cruise departed in October 2015 and it has now taken place four times. I started my big adventure in January 2016 in Ecuador, so I have been travelling for more than a year and a half now. I work as a freelance online marketer and I travel the world without a permanent home base. At the beginning of my trip, while travelling through South America, terms like coworking, coliving, remote work and digital nomad seemed totally new to me. In the blog of Annemarie Konijn “Nomad Cruise: Living in a Bubble” I read about Nomad Cruise for the first time. I became excited and enthusiastic and I realized that I wanted to experience the Nomad Cruise adventure at least once in my life. Meanwhile I have lived on Ibiza, only to fly back to the Netherlands for business meetings. I also met up with Ydwer Hamstra, owner of Webnomad, and I got even more enthusiastic.

14 days crossing the Atlantic Ocean: Imposing and vulnerable at the same time
The Nomad Cruise, what an overwhelming success and top last minute decision. Together with 260 other (starting) entrepreneurs from 36 different countries starting a completely new adventure. Now I’ve been back on land for almost three weeks and I really just ‘landed’. The Nomad Cruise is a crazy, but also a bizarre and an intense experience. Never before have I met so many different and inspiring people, have I had interesting conversations and have I experienced a lot of similarity. Everyone with a unique story, living temporarily in a ‘sailing network village’ on the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, a mind can process a lot…My experience was impressive and vulnerable at the same time!
Dream spot and something with leisure, travel and hospitality
I left the Netherlands in January 2016 and for that reason I’m still looking for my dream spot, a place where people come together, create, collaborate and engage in thought poking conversations. A spot where there is good music, lovely people, good vibes, healthy organic food and at a central location on the beach. What that exactly is going to be, I am not sure of yet. I am thinking about a co-restaurant, co-living, co-working or maybe a small co-camping 🙂 I still want to explore the world and while I am doing that, I will focus on marketing development together with sustainable travel, leisure and co-living organizations and businesses. Time to focus on a niche and a strategy!
